We've Officially Filed for 501(c)(3) Status

At long last we have officially filed for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS! This is a major milestone for the Dr. Allison Rose Memorial Fund, as it will allow us to operate as a recognized nonprofit organization and provide tax-deductible donation options for our supporters. More info on donation options can be found here.

We are deeply grateful to Chris Green and all of Vinson & Elkins LLP for their generous assistance in helping us navigate the filing process.

New Limits To Federal Nursing Student Loans

The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (OBBBA) introduced new annual and lifetime limits to federal student loans for nursing students, which are set to take effect in July 2026. For details, see here, as well as a response by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

In brief, for nursing students in master’s and doctoral programs,

  • The annual loan limit was reduced from $50,000 to $20,500
  • The lifetime loan limit was reduced from $200,000 to $100,000

Do you anticipate these new limits making it more difficult to finance your nursing education? If so, please consider applying to our scholarship program!
